(L to R) Ursula Quan, Kym Bastolla, and Nicole Wood share a few minutes and a few laughs during Kym’s visit to Hawai‘i.

In Hawaiʻi? Stop By and Say Aloha.

The Hana Group
December 1, 2025

When Kym Bastolla traveled to Hawaiʻi to welcome her first grandchild, she didn’t expect to end up in a boardroom overlooking the Pacific Ocean. But on the last day of her trip, she carved out time to do something most people wouldn’t think of: she visited The Hana Group headquarters unannounced, just to say aloha.

Kym works as a Security Escort at the Kesselring Atomic Power Site in upstate New York, where she’s spent nearly two years escorting uncleared individuals across a high-security facility. Her work requires constant vigilance, deep knowledge of safety protocols, and care for everyone she’s assigned to accompany.

But that day in Hawaiʻi, she wasn’t there to supervise a site visit. She was there to connect. “I just really wanted to meet the people behind the emails,” she said. “It’s always felt like a family here, and I wanted to meet them in person.”

Despite arriving without notice, Kym was greeted warmly by Ursula and Nicole, who paused a meeting to spend time with her. “They were so welcoming, so kind,” Kym recalled.

The visit only deepened her connection to the company. “Hana’s generosity is real. Holiday pay, vacation time, even gift cards just to say thanks. Not every company does that.”

With the Kesselring contract nearing its end, Kym remains grateful for her time with the ‘ohana. And she encourages others: “If you ever get the chance to stop by the headquarters—even for ten minutes—do it. Show them who you are. It means something.”

Let’s work together.
