After 26 years in the security industry, Cassandra Jones knows the work. What stood out to her about The Hana Group was the way the work gets done.
From her first days with the company, she noticed something that aligned closely with the way she has always tried to lead: people looking out for one another, offering help, and treating the workplace like a family.
“I like the fact that Hana is a family environment,” Cassandra said. “Everybody has been so helpful since I came on board. They constantly ask me if I need any help or if there’s anything they can do for me.”
That matters to Cassandra because family and service have shaped the way she has approached leadership.
She began as a Protective Security Officer on a Department of Defense contract and worked her way through a series of leadership roles: sergeant, lieutenant, captain, major, contract manager, task order manager and assistant regional director. Along the way, she built deep experience in the National Capital Region and a network that reaches across the security community.
Ron Best, Hana’s Regional Director for the National Capital Region, didn’t have to wait long to see that experience at work.
During Cassandra’s interview, Ron and Gerald Nichels asked how she would address Post Tracking System compliance, an important issue on FPS contracts. Cassandra dealt with it before and began explaining how she would address it.
“We just let her talk,” Ron recalled. “She obviously had a great knowledge of it.”
Then, as Cassandra began visiting Hana sites, another strength became clear. People already knew her.
PSOs greeted “Major Jones” by name. An FPS inspector turned out to be a former supervisor. Clients recognized her from contracts she had worked years earlier. That familiarity has translated quickly into action. Within her first week, Cassandra was contacting FPS about post orders, addressing personnel issues, and preparing corrective-action documentation before anyone had to prompt her.
“She runs with it, and I love it,” Ron said.
As Contract Manager for Hana’s NCR region, Cassandra oversees approximately 75 to 80 employees across five locations, including the Federal Trade Commission, two U.S. Secret Service sites, the National Building Museum and Diversified Financial Corporation.
Cassandra’s management style is hands-on. She checks documentation and compliance, talks directly with officers and, sometimes, simply shows up. “I do pop-ups,” she said. “Anything I find out of compliance, I correct it right there.”
That attention to detail extends to how an officer presents themselves in uniform. Cassandra grew up in a family filled with police officers, correctional officers, and military service members, and says she learned early that professionalism is visible.
“It represents you. It represents the company,” she said. After 26 years in the security industry, she knows the expectations, knows the NCR landscape and is ready to get moving. “I am ready to put boots to ground and get it done,” she said.
And knowing Cassandra, those boots will be polished.
